How Should Australian Domain Name Rules Change? | Lifehacker Australia
http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2010/11/how-should-australian-domain-name-rules-change/

.au domains might cost more than their .com equivalents, but they clearly signal an Australian presence. auDA, which sets Australian domain name rules, is weighing up a number of changes, including possible changes to registration policies and the introduction of single-letter domain names, and it wants your thoughts.

This is yet another milestone for the popular TLD that promotes itself not only as a Colombian ccTLD but also as a valid and viable alternative to .COM

Facebook Plans to Trademark the Word 'Face'

selling websites news - Facebook Plans to Trademark the Word 'Face'

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/11/24/facebook-plans-trademark-word-face/

The social-networking giant was just given a green light in its efforts to trademark the word “face.” The company’s efforts have moved Facebook’s pursuit of face past the opposition period, according to the U.S Patent and Trademark Office, and a “Notice of Allowance” has been issued. And it looks like the application will be approved, Neil Friedman, a partner at law firm Baker and Reynolds who regularly practices trademark law, told FoxNews.com.

Grab Up To 768MB Free Dropbox Space Through Social Media Connections
http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2010/11/grab-up-to-768mb-free-dropbox-space-through-social-media-connections/

You don’t even have to actually post anything about Dropbox to your Twitter or Facebook accounts to activate the majority of the 128 MB upgrades listed at Dropbox’s quietly available “Free” page. Most of the tweaks involve simply registering Dropbox through Facebook and Twitter for future posts you might want to make about your shared files, following Dropbox on Twitter, and telling the Dropbox team how their product is useful. If you do want to shout out about Dropbox on your accounts, you get all 768 MB free.

9 Sure-Fire SEO Tips

9 Sure-Fire SEO Tips for selling websites

http://www.searchenginejournal.com/9-sure-fire-seo-tips/25503/

1) Steal Your Competitors’ Keywords

Look at the keywords they use in their title tags.
Look at the keywords they use to link to their “money pages”.
Some webmasters are dumb enough to include their money keywords in their meta keywords tags. Take a look at these but keep in mind that smart SEO people won’t do this. In fact, just to mess with wannabe SEO’s  they might actually put bad keywords in the meta keywords tags to get others to use them.
If stealing keywords sounds shady, its only because I used the word “steal”  instead of “learn” to grab your attention. You should always learn about your competitors; you can bet that they’ll try to steal..err learn your keywords too.

GoDaddy Makes .CO the Default for New Domain Names

GoDaddy Makes .CO the Default for New Domain Names
http://mashable.com/2010/11/13/godaddy-co/

Domain names ending in .COM are in short supply, so popular registrar GoDaddy has changed the default domain name extension from .COM to the just-launched .CO — a sign that the alternative to .COM already has momentum.

Note that you can still register domain names that end in .COM — they’re just not the default anymore, and these days you’ll be lucky if your first (or second or third) choice isn’t already taken.

.CO domains cost more but they’re given out and resolved the same way as domains ending in .COM, and they’re already recognizable to users in some countries (the United Kingdom and Japan, for example) so they’re a viable alternative if every .COM domain you want is held by either a legit company or an unmovable URL squatter.

Website Auction Didn’t Meet Reserve on Flippa? Now You Can Negotiate | Flippa Blog | Buy & Sell Websites
http://flippa.com/blog/news/auction-didnt-meet-reserve-on-flippa-now-you-can-negotiate/

More than 55% of the auctions on Flippa result in a sale, which is not a bad success rate. However, of those which finish unsuccessfully, almost half have bids – they just fall a little short of the seller’s reserve.

Until now, these sellers were left with two options:

Rejection of marijuana ballot a comedown for domain owners

Rejection of marijuana ballot a comedown for domain owners
http://www.siliconrepublic.com/new-media/item/18671-rejection-of-marijuana/

If you were thinking of selling websites in this market, the marijuana domain names are now redundant

It’s certain to feel like a bad trip for internet landgrabbers that acquired marijuana-related domain names as California rejects its marijuana ballot.

California voters have rejected the introduction of legal marijuana in a recent vote (Proposition 19), leaving thousands of domain landgrabbers who snapped up drug-related domain names in the hope of a positive outcome at a loose end.

Domain names such as icecreammarijuana.com and marijuanapastry.com had been taken up and intended for trading and purchasing the drug once legalised, but all are now redundant.

Had the vote been passed it would have been the first US state to legalise the narcotic, even though 14 states have legalised medicinal use of the drug.

California also recently rejected Proposition 23, which proposed a series of measures that would contravene progress in green technology and practices across the state.

Great interview with Yaro Starak On Buying And Selling Websites

Yaro Starak On Buying And Selling Websites
http://www.ryantmalone.com/selling-websites/yaro-starak-on-buying-and-selling-websites/

Yaro Starak is someone who has been primarily in the internet marketing space, however, has dabbled in buying and selling websites from time to time. In fact, he speaks of this on his blog going back to 2005, which being still somewhat fresh from the dot com bubble burst, this was a very exciting time for people to get into the buying and selling space. In fact, there was no better time to set yourself up for the boom that is fast coming again.

Amazon Buys A Lot of Diapers.com For $540 Million
http://techcrunch.com/2010/11/06/amazon-buys-diapers-com-540-million/

First shoes, now diapers. Amazon is reportedly about to announce on Monday the acquisition of Quidsi, the New Jersey-based ecommerce company behind Diapers.com, Soap.com, and, most recently, BeautyBar.com. Fortune’s Dan Primack, who broke the story from a maternity ward in Boston where his daughter was just born (no joke), puts the price of the all-cash deal at $540 million. A year ago, Amazon bought online shoe retailer Zappos for $1.2 billion.

How can you do it?!

How can you do it?!
http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2010/11/how-can-you-do-it.html

Some people believe that if you have a good job, you shouldn’t start your own gig, because it’s foolish to give up a job you can’t easily replace.

And some people believe that if you don’t have a great job, it’s foolish to waste time (and the money you can ill afford to lose) starting something when you’d be a lot better off getting a great job or going to school until you do.

According to whois records, the domain name was registered in December 2009 by Mircea Roibu from Florida .
Brad Pitt is one of the most popular actors in the world and a well known producer. Therefore, supposedly he had not registered his name as a trademark,he definitely contended that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to its trademark.
