How To Wipe Out Spam Email In Your Inbox when selling websites
http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2010/12/how-to-wipe-out-spam-email-in-your-inbox/
Most of us have some kind of junk filter, but it’s not always effective. We’re going to take a look at the best ways to counter spam email attacks in both webmail and desktop email clients. That said, if you’re drowning in spam you might want to consider a shift to Gmail, as it has—as far as I’ve seen — the most effective means of blocking spam that you can get. There are a few ways to migrate your email to Gmail, and if you want to use Google Apps with your own domain name (it’s free), Google offers a migration tool to copy your inbox to their servers. We know not everyone loves Google as much as we do, so we’re going to go over as many other options as we can, but if you’ve been thinking about switching to Gmail and you’re having serious trouble with spam, now might be a good time to join up.

9 Sure-Fire SEO Tips for selling websites
1) Steal Your Competitors’ Keywords
Look at the keywords they use in their title tags.
Look at the keywords they use to link to their “money pages”.
Some webmasters are dumb enough to include their money keywords in their meta keywords tags. Take a look at these but keep in mind that smart SEO people won’t do this. In fact, just to mess with wannabe SEO’s they might actually put bad keywords in the meta keywords tags to get others to use them.
If stealing keywords sounds shady, its only because I used the word “steal” instead of “learn” to grab your attention. You should always learn about your competitors; you can bet that they’ll try to steal..err learn your keywords too.

GoDaddy Makes .CO the Default for New Domain Names
http://mashable.com/2010/11/13/godaddy-co/
Domain names ending in .COM are in short supply, so popular registrar GoDaddy has changed the default domain name extension from .COM to the just-launched .CO — a sign that the alternative to .COM already has momentum.
Note that you can still register domain names that end in .COM — they’re just not the default anymore, and these days you’ll be lucky if your first (or second or third) choice isn’t already taken. .CO domains cost more but they’re given out and resolved the same way as domains ending in .COM, and they’re already recognizable to users in some countries (the United Kingdom and Japan, for example) so they’re a viable alternative if every .COM domain you want is held by either a legit company or an unmovable URL squatter.

Rejection of marijuana ballot a comedown for domain owners
http://www.siliconrepublic.com/new-media/item/18671-rejection-of-marijuana/
If you were thinking of selling websites in this market, the marijuana domain names are now redundant
California voters have rejected the introduction of legal marijuana in a recent vote (Proposition 19), leaving thousands of domain landgrabbers who snapped up drug-related domain names in the hope of a positive outcome at a loose end. Domain names such as icecreammarijuana.com and marijuanapastry.com had been taken up and intended for trading and purchasing the drug once legalised, but all are now redundant. Had the vote been passed it would have been the first US state to legalise the narcotic, even though 14 states have legalised medicinal use of the drug. California also recently rejected Proposition 23, which proposed a series of measures that would contravene progress in green technology and practices across the state.
It’s certain to feel like a bad trip for internet landgrabbers that acquired marijuana-related domain names as California rejects its marijuana ballot.

Are You Staying on Topic - or Losing Traffic?
http://dailyseotip.com/are-you-staying-on-topic-or-losing-traffic/1099/
What’s your niche? If you’ve been writing your blog for any more than a couple of weeks then you should hopefully be able to answer that question pretty easily. But how many times have you actually stopped to review your work? As you blog, you will naturally learn new things and grow. Like-wise your blog will continuously evolve; this is perfectly normal, and it’s certainly not a bad thing.
The problem comes when you start to meander and lose focus: As you build your blog you will of course think of new subjects you want to cover, but if you stray too far from what you set out to write about you might be leaving your loyal readers behind and perhaps ruining the hard work you put into your SEO in the first place.

In this case the company got smart acquired the domain name. It was also lucky that the domain’s owner didn’t hold out for more money. But can you think of all the good startups with web 2.0 spellings that balked at paying such a small sum, only to regret it later? Most startups that choose a web 2.0 name end up paying dearly in the end. But they eventually get it. Think Flickr.com with Flicker.com and and De.lico.us (was that even where you put the dots in that stupid name?) with Delicous.com.

As with most Google online products, Google Instant is being rolled out gradually across its operations, so even some US users on the main Google.com domain haven’t yet got access and may not see it for a couple of days. Google said in a press announcement this morning that it “hopes” the service will be added to the Australian site “in the coming weeks”, but advises: “People outside the US will be able to use Instant Search through Google.com.” In practice, your success is likely to vary even if you try this. When entrepreneur Juan Diego Calle asked the Colombian government to let him sell their Internet real-estate, he knew it was a long shot. The Harvard-educated Colombian native was battling over only two letters of the alphabet, but his request was tall: Let me commercialize the nation’s Internet identity.

http://www.articlelogy.com/business/e-commerce/8-tips-to-gain-a-buyer-s-trust-when-flipping-websites.html
In website flipping, being able to get the buyer’s trust, as much as a great site, is a crucial factor in your ability to sell a website. Listed here are 8 tips that site sellers can use to gain buyers’ trust, generate interest for their sites, and accordingly, increase sales. 1. Facts only please. Trying to get interest for your listing by exaggerating figures won’t get you anywhere. It’s not even advisable to calculate the “potential” earnings of a site (i.e., citing revenue for a day and multiplying this by 30 for a “month’s” income).

Arbitrator hands DisneyOffer.com domain name to Disney

The National Arbitration Forum announced that a ruling has been issued in favor of Disney ,regarding rights to the Internet domain name DisneyOffer.com .Disney, represented in this case by J. Andrew Coombs, submitted a complaint to the National Arbitration Forum, asserting legal rights to the disputed domain name. The company owns many trademark registrations with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”) for its “DISNEY” mark .Therefore, they contended that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to its trademark. Moreover, they contended in the complaint that the respondent registered and used the domain name in bad faith . “Respondent registered the disputed domain name precisely for its trademark value, rather than in spite of it. Indeed, Respondent is no stranger to registering domain names which appear to infringe well-known trademarks including EBAY and CHEVY among others

You Know You Are A Domainer When . . .
http://idnblog.com/2010/09/02/domainer-when/
Here is the history behind the offer. Years ago, when I introduced different family members and friends to domaining, I pulled up a simple GoDaddy registration page and told them that for fun they should type in words to see what was available. After realizing that domains like World.com and Love.com were long gone, they tried more niche domains like Grapes.com, only to learn that virtually every English word was taken. Eventually, my Mom settled on a two word brandable domain to buy for approximately $8.00, which she hoped to develop one day.

Salary.com Fetches $80 Million- As First Predicted HERE, Cloud Computing SaaS Application Names a...
http://fragerfactor.blogspot.com/2010/09/salarycom-fetches-80-million-as-first.html
Yesterday we told you about the acquisition of Learn.com for $125 million. This follows big prices paid for Team.com, Mint.com (see a rebroadcast of my post below). Now TechCrunch reports that Salary.com has sold for $80 million. In all cases development is key because they are selling the perfect combination of a cloud software application and the brand name that describes it to a "t". This is not about search stats or Estibot scores. It's about ADVERTISING and BRANDING. The names ARE an ad so no advertising is needed.
This is the future of domaining to the next level for people with the best prospective names who got it early like him and them.

Due Diligence Before Buying a Domain Name
http://www.domaining.com/headline/?id=734455&t=2
In my opinion, it’s the buyer’s responsibility if he buys a stolen domain name, and all buyers should perform due diligence on a domain name before making the acquisition or risk losing his investment and domain name. Just like with physical property, if a purchase is found to be stolen, the person in possession of it will probably lose it and will likely not see his funds returned (I am sure there are cases where this isn’t true – especially when something is bought in good faith, but it’s an assumption).

MySpace Spends $25K on MySpace.Co, A Domain They Could Have Bought For $300

They still have a lot to learn when it comes to domain names.
A reader informed me that they were in the auction for MySpace.co and that the domain sold for $25,000. The whois record now confirms that Twentieth Century Fox, which is owned by NewsCorp, which also owns MySpace.com, is the new owner of the domain. Of course as the trademark holder, Fox could have just applied for the domain in the Sunrise period for around $300 and gotten the domain. Moreover, one would think that they would have had a very good chance of getting the domain through a WIPO proceeding for 1/4 of the price they paid at auction.

Blogging by Numbers: How to Create Headlines That Get Retweeted

How do you learn what works? Headlines are as old as writing itself.
There are many sources, but rankings and data sets (often prolific bloggers) are what you want. The simple version is: study (look at “7 Days” or longer) and Seth Godin (look at the most retweeted). Seth is a brilliant copywriter and outstanding headline craftsman. I notice one of his repeating headline patterns appeared to be “The Difference Between [A] and [B]“, which I tested successfully with “The Difference: Living Well vs. Doing Well.” What the hell does my post title mean, exactly? Precisely.

Inside today’s interview, I had the pleasure and honor of picking the brains of one of the world’s most respected leaders and thinkers on SEO, Leslie Rohde. Even though I’ve been doing internet marketing for around 4 years now, I don’t claim to know all that much about SEO, so it was a real eye opener having a chat to Leslie Rohde.
And to make it extra interesting, I asked Leslie a bunch of questions about how SEO relates to online video marketing, and how you can use that knowledge to boost your rankings in the search engines, using online video. Video marketing wizz kid…

7 Tips To Help You Become A Millionaire
http://www.entrepreneurs-journey.com/3106/how-to-make-a-million-dollars/
There’s no doubt people are inspired by seeing how much money others make (I certainly was before I started earning much online), and for the person sharing their details, it’s great for the ego to talk about how well you are doing. It’s also beneficial as a practice to report income to monitor your trend growth rates and also see if you can sustain a level of income significant enough to live off long term.
I’ve often had people, especially those who work “normal” jobs, question the practice of revealing your income online. How much money you earn is considered one of the most private things you don’t tell even your friends or family, let alone the entire planet through the Internet. I personally don’t think income levels should be hidden, it could be a force for better wages if the knowledge was public, so I’ve never had a problem talking about how much money I generate. Plus it’s fun to report back your successes when you have them, even if it does seem a lot like bragging, which I think it is, but it’s great for social proof too.

How to Search Twitter List Archives
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/how_to_search_twitter_list_archives.php?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+readwriteweb+%28ReadWriteWeb%29
Twitter lists are a beautiful thing, a great way to gather together expert opinion on any topic. If you thought Twitter’s own search was bad at retrieving archival conversations, though, is archival search of Twitter lists too much to dream of?
It may not be anymore, thanks to a startup called Nsyght. Nsyght has been around for a few years now, and it does a whole lot of things for and beyond Twitter, but the service’s newest feature is what really moves the needle for me: The ability to filter and search the archives of the lists of people I’m following. I can see what Chris Grayson’s Augmented Reality Peeps list has said about Google over the past few months, or what the members of the Enterprise Irregulars said about the much-tweeted #Workday analyst demo event earlier this week. Hello, useful!

Sell the problem

No business buys a solution for a problem they don’t have.
And yet, most business to business marketers jump right into features and benefits, without taking the time to understand if the person on the other end of the conversation/call/letter believes they even have a problem. My friend Marcia (we’ve advised each other on various projects) has a very cool idea for large professional firms. As an architect, she realized the firms were wasting time and money and efficiency in the way they use their space. Roomtag is her answer. The challenge is this: if your big law firm or accounting firm doesn’t think it has a space allocation/stuff tracking/office mapping problem, you won’t be looking for a solution. You won’t wake up in the morning dreaming about how to solve it, or go to bed wondering how much it’s costing you to ignore it.
